Great article. There are few people who write on different and rare stuffs which are tough to experiment. You are one of them.I had this query if we can set failover cluster across different physical sites from the very first day I had set up SQL Server failover cluster and your explanation had answered all my queries.

Many thanks once again.

Sounds like it might have to do with the storage resource. If you have support from EMC I would see if they have any idea. John Toner is another cluster MVP and works for EMC. He knows EMC storage and clustering better than anyone. I would check out his blog http://msmvps.com/blogs/jtoner/archive/2007/04/27/emc-srdf-ce-for-mscs.aspx and he also monitors the cluster forum at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverClustering/threads

I would probably open a case with Microsoft as DLL Deadlocks can be hard to diagnose. You can also post on the Microsoft forum, but opening a case will get you the quickest answer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

No - just because it doesn't have a vote does not mean it is not a valid cluster member. If you have the preferred owners configured as Node1, Node2, Node3 then if Node1 fails Node2 will come into service even though it doesn't have a vote.

Hello Dave,

Wow That was quick. Thank you for your reply. i have looked into GoGrid but they are expensive and do not offer a "Pay As You Go" option. I am a mere engineer who is looking for a way to run a 64 CPU, Windows based cluster, when I need it. With kind regards and Happy Holidays,
